The 2019 theme is “Wild Things,” so grab some antlers, faux fur, or anything that comes to mind, and align yourself with some like-minded wild spirits. The festivities begin around 7 pm and travel up 6th Avenue to 16th Street. Pop into the parade at any part, but we suggest cruising the whole route for the complete experience. There will be over 35 live bands, massive puppets, and dance troupes of every kind.

With so many institutions to visit, we know it can be overwhelming. That's why we've mapped out your perfect art-filled route in New York City. Start your day at the Rubin Museum of Art in the Flatiron District. Explore Tibetan artworks from India, the Himalayas, and the surrounding countries before checking out their unique gift shop. Next, head to the Upper East Side to check out the Jewish Museum. The impressive collection of nearly 30,000 works of Jewish-related art is guaranteed to dazzle. Lastly, walk over to the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum housed in the landmark Andrew Carnegie mansion. It's the only museum dedicated to historic and contemporary design in the nation. After a fun-filled day of cultural exploration, stroll the gardens accompanying the museum or head to Central Park for a late September cruise.

Show you rainbow-hued pride with fun Instagrammable photo ops that guaranteed to garner a high volume of likes. The San Francisco event featured a scratch-and-sniff wall, a confetti room, a yellow ball bit, 1,000 colored ribbons, and sparkling disco balls. However, the NYC edition will be entirely inspired by the city. Jordan Ferney, the Color Factory co-founder, says that New York artists such as Jason Polan, Mmuseumm, and Lakwena Maciver will be included in this exhibition. We can't think of a better way to celebrate Memorial Day weekend than paying homage to our veterans. Take a tour of the Intrepid, catch the Parade of Ships, or head to Central Park for a Navy Band concert. So many options to choose from--where will your adventures lead you?

Governors Ball Music Festival, May 31st to June 2nd
Every spring, locals and visitors get excited for this three-day festival featuring an impressive lineup of world-renowned international artists. This year, headliners include Florence + The Machine, Lil Wayne, Blood Orange, and many more. Go for one day or all three!

Venture to Brooklyn Botanical Gardens to partake in this enchanting spring festival. Make the most of these picture-perfect days while watching Taiko drummers, samurai-sword master, J-rock bands, and stand-up comics perform. The Met’s Christmas Tree
Enter the Great Hall of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and head straight to the back to see this phenomenal jewel. Nestled in the Medieval Sculpture Hall, is a Christmas tree like no other. The twenty-foot source is decorated in silk-robed angels, and at the base, there is an eighteenth-century Neapolitan Nativity Scene.

Handel’s Messiah

Renegade Craft Fair
Stock up on unique gifts at this brilliant two-day event that is free and open to the public. Taking place from November 17th - November 18th from 11 am - 5 pm at the Metropolitan Pavilion, it’s one of the finest displays of crafts sold by a tightly curated selection of vendors.

Radio City Christmas Spectacular
Every year the show gets better. This year, kick off your holiday season with the sparkling glamor of the Rockettes, who have been lighting up the stage since 1933.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
Join 3.5 million attendees along the parade route, for what can only be described as the world’s largest Thanksgiving Day celebration. Over 50 million viewers tune in around the world to watch the massive floats cruise over Manhattan on November 22nd from 9 am - 12 pm.

Indulge in unlimited tastings while awakening your senses. Baristas from over 75 coffee vendors will be pouring piping hot brews for caffeine-thirsty New Yorkers. New York Coffee Festival is one of the only places you can watch the Bluestone Lane latte art throw down and see baristas compete at the world-renowned Coffee Masters competition. Have a decadent coffee cocktail at the new Brew Bar or pop in for informative workshops hosted by famous baristas Dritan Alsela and Mr. Black. OctFest, Governors Island, September 8th & 9th

Calling all beer and music lovers--Pitchfork and October have come together for the second year to bring you 20 bands and 90 breweries at this two-day festival on Governors Island. Classic acts such as Flaming Lips, Yo La Tengo, and Julie Byrne will be rocking out, while attendees can grab brews from India's Bira 91, Germany's Aktien, Blue Point, and Circa just to name a few. 

Rina Sawayama, Bowery Ballroom, September 12th

Catch this London singer that fills her lighthearted music with pop-punk riffs and electric synths, while referencing societies fascination with new technology. 

David Byrne + Tune-Yards, Forest Hill Stadium, September 15th to 17th

Former lead singer of the Talking Heads is returning to Forest Hill Stadium for the first time since his band played there in 1983. David Byrne, now a solo artist, has always been on our bucket list of artists to see live. We are so excited, and his new show is guaranteed to be a hit. 

However, Bryant park keeps the tradition alive. Snuggle up with a blanket to catch a summer movie with your crew. Pack a small picnic and alert your friends, that tonight is free movie night! There are only two movies left this summer, but some may think they are the best. August 13th is Thelma & Louise, and on August 20th, you’ll be transported to 2029 with the Terminator. Food is available for purchase by Hester Street Fair and there are an array of restaurants in the neighborhood featuring sweet treats and desserts. It’s hard to believe summer is almost over, but that should only be more fuel to get outdoors and experience everything NYC has to offer.

SummerStage in Central Park

Steven Tyler, Jason Mraz, and O.A.R. are just three of the hundred-plus shows this summer. Hit up a concert at Central Park stage for an iconic time under Manhattan skies.

Warm Up at MoMA PS1

Mingle with locals on the Long Island City side of the bridge. Warm Up at MoMA PS1 will be hosting the most innovative Saturday party until the beginning of September. Catch emerging artists and DJs such as Cashmere Cat, Starchild + The New Romantic, and Omar-S HoodCelebrity.

Harlem Week (July 29 - August 25th) 

Head up to get down. Harlem doesn’t just celebrate for one week; this “week-long” celebration is actually a month. Select from activities such as street parties, fashion show, auto-shows, and more to commemorate Harlem’s rich culture.

Dress up in your finest Jazz Age costumes for a day of retro dancing and cocktail sipping. Ride the charming ferry that leaves from Manhattan’s Financial District to attend the longest running event Governors Island has ever had. Step back in time to the Prohibition Era, where stylish flappers and sheiks rule the New York social scene, and a leisurely day of croquet is perfectly acceptable activity. Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra are headlining alongside the Dreamland Follies and the Canarsie Wobblers. Queen Esther and Peter Mintun will also be bringing their talents to the two-day event happening on June 16th and 17th.

Allow your inner music-fan to run wild while soaking in the music videos, audio recordings, TV clips, and films. Few artists have revolutionized how we experience music like Bowie. The exhibition outlines the creative process that led to the birth of Ziggy Stardust, Let’s Dance, and The Man Who Sold The World. New York City is the last stop on tour, and it only fits it would end where the British-born musician lived and spent his final days. Hold back your tears when remembering the genius glam rock icon who breathed and lived rock'n'roll, and left us legendary albums to keep his memory alive and well.

We suggest a Nathan’s hot dog and a cold brew, but maybe we’re just old school. This season, the Yankees have an all-star lineup with players like Aaron Judge, Brett Gardner, and Giancarlo Stanton and the Mets are anchored by Jeurys Familia, AJ Ramos, and Robert Gsellman. Like all teams, they are aiming to slide into the World Series Championship--for the Yankees that would be their 28th win, the Mets, their third. One of the greatest parts about baseball is that anything can happen. So pull up a front row seat and be part of history. What are you waiting for?

2. New York City was the first capital of the United States in 1789. However, the reign didn’t last long and came to a halt after just one year.

3. Gennaro Lombardi was the first to open a pizzeria in the US. in 1905. You can still visit his historic pizzeria on 32 Spring and Mott Street. 

4. Wildlife exists within the city--wild Peregrine Falcons are found swooping through the buildings and nesting on bridges and skyscrapers.
